OPENING: June 19; June 20–28 — ART STORE: Mon–Fri 1:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m., Sat and Sun 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. “Stroll, browse, shop for art” is the motto of the art department store, organized by KulturPackt for the 9th time. Where? This time in a vacant space right on the market square, the former KODI. Instead of household goods, the store is now stocked with hundreds of works by artists from the region. A total of around 30 artists will participate and present their work. The art department store will be open for ten days. Just like in a regular store, you can stroll through the rooms, view a wide variety of artworks, take what you like home right away, and pay at the register by the exit. Several of the exhibiting artists are usually on site, and you can strike up a conversation with them about their work. In addition to oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, graphic art, and collages are on display and available for purchase. There are also ceramic works, objects made of straw or fabric, and painted secondhand porcelain. The range of styles is diverse—realistic or abstract, impressionistic or expressive, classical or experimental, subtle or bold, modern or old master-style. There are works for every budget, ranging from postcards starting at one euro to large-format paintings priced in the four-digit range. The opening, to which KulturPackt cordially invites you, will take place with musical accompaniment on Friday, June 19, at 7:00 p.m. Afterward, the 9th Art Department Store will be open daily through Sunday, June 28, including weekends: Mon–Fri 1:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m., Sat and Sun 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. During the project’s run, two musical events will also take place on Sunday mornings: On June 21, the saxophone ensemble of the Musikverein Hambach will perform in front of the building on the market square; on June 28, the “Trio Grazioso” will perform inside the store, featuring images and texts by flutist Jörg Wiedersich
