Trug' - 50th Anniversary Program The Hermeline are turning 50: half a century as musical ambassadors for Brittany (the Celtic region of France on the Atlantic coast), primarily in German-speaking countries, but also throughout Europe—from the Skagerrak to Emilia-Romagna! The Saarland-Lorraine world music ensemble is celebrating this special occasion with an anniversary program: both as a retrospective on the band’s history and as a tribute to the musicians of Brittany and other Celtic regions who have supported and influenced the group from the very beginning. The program’s title, “Trug”—short for “Trugarez” (Breton for “thank you”)—expresses gratitude to friends and teachers in Brittany, as well as to the organizers of the AN ERMINIG concerts over the past years. The “Trug” program features standout songs from the past 50 years, as well as songs and dances that connect AN ERMINIG in a special way to their role models and companions along the way. The songs are complemented by anecdotes and stories intended to convey to the audience the Hermeline’s enthusiasm for this special region and its culture. “Trug” embodies the joy of the band’s milestone anniversary, which AN ERMINIG shares with its audience—who have remained loyal to the band over the years—and takes listeners on a musical journey of discovery through these many years. 50 and not a bit quiet—onward into the second half-century!
