A perfect opportunity to discover significant works of German painting from the Romantic period to Impressionism in a relaxed atmosphere—featuring works by artists such as Adolph Menzel, Max Liebermann, and Lovis Corinth, as well as the world’s largest collection of Carl Spitzweg. Well-known paintings such as “Evening on the Baltic Sea” by Caspar David Friedrich or “The Bookworm” can also be experienced here in their original form. The modern museum building, with its open sightlines, creates a special atmosphere.
