On Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., the second student concert of the year will take place at Augustinum Schweinfurt, Ludwigstraße 16, 97421 Schweinfurt. Two ensembles from the University of Music Würzburg will perform chamber music by Dmitrij Schostakowitsch: the Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 40, and the E minor Trio for Violin, Cello, and Piano, Op. 67.
Composed in 1934, the sonata combines lyrical and cheerful passages. The 1944 trio is shaped by war and personal loss, creating a dramatic contrast. Together, the works offer insight into different phases of the composer’s creative life. The free concert is part of the PRÄLUDIO series, which supports young students and ensembles in collaboration with HfM Würzburg.
