Now 95 years old\, the Dutch-born artist—who has lived in Eschenau since 1970—is considered a pioneer of working in and with nature\, with the Steigerwald forest at the center of his creative work. Winterhalter has been a close friend of the artist and his wife Susanne for nearly 25 years.
