July 28 through November 29, 2026
Global crises have become part of our everyday lives, and there is a great deal of uncertainty.
But how did humanity react to exceptional situations in the past? And how do we deal with this constant uncertainty today?
The new special exhibition at the Otto Schäfer Museum in Schweinfurt explores these questions across five thematic chapters, illustrating how the past helps us assess our current situation: Historical originals—ranging from rare witchcraft books to treatises on the plague, war-influenced writings, and classical literature—are juxtaposed with our current perspectives.
The project was developed in collaboration with students in the Master’s program in Literature, Culture, and Media at Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg.
