The “FarbenSpiel” exhibition will present works of art created from discarded musical instruments on Saturday, September 12, 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. at Ludwigstraße 16 in Schweinfurt. The project was developed in collaboration between the cultural office of Lebenshilfe Wohnstätten Mainfranken, led by Antje Arlt, and Würzburg-based artist Philipp Rau. Residents of Lebenshilfe, aged between 30 and 65, redesigned a total of 15 old instruments and individual parts during several workshops. They used the “Abstract Pouring” technique, an acrylic pouring method. The resulting three-dimensional works—including reimagined guitars, saxophones, and drums—belong to the category of “outsider art”—an art form created free from academic rules. The exhibition showcases the results of this inclusive collaboration and the transformation of the instruments into colorful art objects.
