For 18 years, Schmitts Katze has been dedicated to Jewish klezmer music. The repertoire includes melodies the musicians learned from Jewish musicians around the world or discovered on historical recordings. These include dance tunes associated with Hasidic weddings as well as Yiddish songs about life, love, poverty, and parting.
The concert brings together a range of moods: major and minor, light and shadow, happiness and melancholy. This musical tradition, long heard at weddings and during lively nights, is presented here on the concert stage. The concert begins on Sunday, February 21, 2027, at 5 p.m. at Disharmonie, Gutermann-Promenade 7 in Schweinfurt.
