On Sunday, August 30, 2026, the permanent exhibition “Prints—Book Art—The Dürer Collection” will open at Judithstraße 16 in 97422 Schweinfurt. Starting at 1:00 p.m., the presentation in the literature section will focus on the collection of industrialist Dr. h.c. Otto Schäfer, which spans approximately 600 years of printing history.
The tour traces the development from the beginnings of book printing to the modern era. On display are early block-printed books from Gutenberg’s time, first editions from the 18th and 19th centuries, and contemporary works. A key focus is the graphic work of the Renaissance master Albrecht Dürer, which is fully represented in the collection. The exhibition thus illustrates the historical evolution and significance of the art of printing over six centuries.
